Send guests directions with a QR code
A code on the invitation or sign opens the map with your pin already set. Guests tap Start and drive.
To give guests directions with a QR code, make a location code with your venue's exact pin and print it on the invitation, the booking confirmation or a sign. Guests scan and their map app opens on that spot, one tap from navigation. Drop the pin above, check it lands on the entrance and download.
Straight to the right gate
A code on the invitation. Guests scan and the map opens on the venue's car park.
How to make a directions code
Set the pin on the door
Use the entrance or car park, not the middle of the building. Big sites have more than one way in.
Name the place
A short label, such as "The Old Orchard Barn, car park", shows on the map so guests know they have the right spot.
Test the route
Scan with a phone, start navigation and check the last turn. Rural venues often hide behind a wrong pin.
Worked example: a barn wedding
- The problem
- The venue's postcode covers three farms, and last year half the guests ended up at the wrong gate.
- The code
- The invitation carries a directions code pinned to the barn's car park, labelled with the venue's name.
- On the day
- Guests scan the invitation in the car and navigation takes them to the right gate, not the farmhouse next door.
Fixed or editable for directions?
-
Fester QR-Code (statisch)
A fixed code holds the coordinates and is free forever. It suits one venue on one date, such as a wedding or an open day.
-
Bearbeitbarer QR-Code (dynamisch)
An editable code can move to a new venue later, which suits printed signs used at different places, and counts how many people scanned for the route.
Where directions codes help
Invitations
Print the code beside the address. Guests scan it again on the day, straight from the card.
Booking confirmations
Hotels and clinics add it to the confirmation e-mail and the printed letter, so arrivals stop calling for the way.
Signs at the turn-off
For open houses and markets, a code on the street sign takes walkers the last few hundred metres.
Fragen und Antworten
Bevor Sie drucken
Does a directions code open Google Maps or Apple Maps?
You choose: a Google Maps link opens Google Maps or its website on any phone; a geo code lets the phone choose its own map app.
Can I use an address instead of a pin?
A pin is more exact. Addresses can cover a large area or point at the wrong side of a big site, so drop the pin on the entrance.
Does it work without mobile data?
The code itself opens without data. The map then needs data, or a map downloaded beforehand, to show the route.
Can one code show the way to two places?
One code holds one spot. For a ceremony and a reception, print two codes with clear labels.
How big should the code be on an invitation?
About 2 to 2.5 cm is enough at hand distance. On a sign seen from a car, make it much larger, roughly a tenth of the reading distance.
Nobody gets lost on the way
Drop the pin on your entrance, label it and print it on every invitation or sign.
