Menu QR code for restaurants, cafes and bars
Link your menu page or PDF. Use an editable code and change dishes, prices and seasonal menus without new table cards.
A menu QR code opens your menu on the guest's phone: a page on your website, a PDF or a hosted menu page. Paste the menu address below. Pick an editable code for menus: it prints a short link you can point at the new menu any time, so dishes, prices and seasons change while the table cards stay.
Sit down, scan, order
Every table gets a card. Guests scan and today's menu opens on their phone.
Templates for this code
-
Table menu
Black squares with Scan for the menu, for table tents and stickers.
-
Bistro cream
Classy modules on cream for menus printed on uncoated paper.
-
Window order
A boxed code in brick red for the front window and takeaway counter.
How to make a menu QR code
Put the menu online
A page on your website, a PDF or a hosted menu page. Make sure it reads well on a phone without zooming.
Choose editable for menus that change
Seasonal menus, daily specials and price updates all move the menu. An editable code follows without reprinting.
Print one code for every table
Table tents, stickers or the corner of a placemat. Add the table number to the link if you want scans per table.
Keep a few paper menus
Some guests prefer paper or have no phone with them. A code next to a printed menu serves both.
Fixed or editable for a menu?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
A fixed code works if your menu always lives at the same address, for example a page on your own site that you update in place. It is free and has no running cost.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
We recommend editable for most menus. When the menu file or page changes, you update the destination and every table follows on the next scan. You also see scans per day. From $9 a month, or a pass from $12 for a season.
Where menu codes go
Table tents and stickers
One per table, at eye level, so guests scan while they sit down.
Front windows
People reading the menu from the street decide to come in, or to come back tonight.
Takeaway and delivery
A code on bags and boxes opens the menu for the next order.
Hotel rooms
A room service menu behind a code saves printing a new folder each season.
Print specs for menu codes
On the table
Read from a seat at about 40 cm, a short-link code needs around 5.6 cm wide. A fixed code with a long address needs more.
In the window
Read from a step away outside, plan 14 cm or more and avoid glare from inside lights.
Wipe-proof
Laminate table cards with a matte finish. Gloss throws ceiling lights into the camera.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
What is the best way to make a QR code for a menu?
Put the menu on a mobile-friendly page or a PDF, then make an editable code that points at it. When the menu changes, update the destination rather than the print.
Can a menu QR code open a PDF?
Yes. Paste the PDF's address, or upload the PDF to an editable code's hosted page so the code keeps working when you replace the file.
What happens to my table cards if I stop paying?
Editable codes stop redirecting when the plan or pass ends. Keep-alive at $3 a month keeps up to 15 codes running.
Can I see how many guests scan the menu?
With an editable code, yes: scans are counted per code, so a code per table or per area shows where people scan.
Do guests need an app to read the menu?
No. The phone camera opens the menu in the browser. Nothing to install.
Should I keep paper menus too?
Usually a few. Some guests have no phone with them or prefer paper, and a code next to a printed menu works for everyone.
A menu you can change any day
Paste your menu link, choose editable and print one code per table.
