Wi-Fi QR code generator
Enter the network name and password once. Guests scan, tap Join and they are online in seconds.
A Wi-Fi QR code stores your network name (SSID), password and security type (WPA, WPA2 or WPA3) in one square. Guests point an iPhone or Android camera at it and tap Join to connect. Enter your network details in the generator below and download the code. It is free and works offline, because the details sit inside the code.
Scan, tap Join, online
The table card holds your network. A guest points the camera at it and the phone offers to join, password included.
Templates for this code
-
Guest Wi-Fi
A banner that says what the scan does, for cafes and waiting rooms.
-
Holiday let
Cream background for welcome books in holiday rentals.
-
Office guest
A boxed code in navy for meeting rooms and reception.
How to make a Wi-Fi QR code
Find the exact network name
Copy the SSID from your router's admin page or from a phone that is already connected. Capital letters and spaces count.
Enter the password and security type
Most networks use WPA or WPA2, which is the WPA option. Choose WPA3 only if your router is set to WPA3 alone, and none for an open network.
Mark hidden networks
If your network does not broadcast its name, tick the hidden network box so phones know to look for it.
Join from the preview first
Forget the network on your phone, scan the preview and tap join. If it connects, print. If not, the name or password has a typo.
Why Wi-Fi codes should be fixed
-
Fixed QR code (static)
We recommend fixed for Wi-Fi. Phones offer to join a network when its details are inside the code, and that is exactly what a fixed code holds. It works offline, right when the guest needs it. Free to make and download.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
An editable code holds a short link, and joining a network needs the details themselves. If you change the guest password every month, make a new fixed code each time: it is free, and you only reprint the table cards.
Where a Wi-Fi code saves the most questions
Cafes and restaurants
On the table card or the menu. Staff stop spelling passwords between orders.
Holiday rentals and hotels
Frame it in the hallway or add it to the welcome folder, so guests are online before they unpack.
Offices and meeting rooms
A visitor network code at reception lets guests connect without walking them through the settings menu.
At home
Stick it inside a kitchen cupboard door. Friends and family get online, and the long password can stay long.
Printing a Wi-Fi code
Add a frame line
A short caption such as "Scan to join our Wi-Fi" under the code tells guests what it is. The preset above already adds one.
Print the network name too
Write the network name and password in small type beside the code. Laptops and older phones that cannot scan can still connect.
Table cards: 3 cm and up
A code of about 3 cm reads well across a table. A sign on the wall needs more, roughly a tenth of the distance people stand from it.
Security types explained
- WPA
- Covers WPA and WPA2 networks, the setting most routers use. Pick this when unsure.
- WPA3
- For routers set to WPA3 only. Mixed WPA2 and WPA3 networks work with the WPA option.
- WEP and open networks
- WEP is outdated but still supported. Choose none for a network without a password.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
Do Wi-Fi QR codes work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Current iPhone and Android cameras recognise Wi-Fi codes and show a join button. On some older Android phones the option sits in the camera's QR scanner or the Wi-Fi settings screen.
Is it safe to put my Wi-Fi password in a QR code?
The code contains the password in readable form, just like a card with the password written on it. Use it for a guest network, and keep your private network separate.
What happens when I change the Wi-Fi password?
The old code stops connecting, because it still contains the old password. Make a new code with the new password and replace the printed ones. Fixed codes are free, so only the printing costs anything.
Does a Wi-Fi QR code need internet?
No. The phone reads the network details straight from the code and joins. That is why it works for guests who are not online yet.
Why does my phone say it cannot join?
Usually the network name or password has a typo, or the security type does not match the router. Check capital letters, then try the WPA option, which covers most networks.
Stop spelling out the password
Enter your guest network details above and print a card for every table.
