PDF QR code
Upload your PDF, print the code, and swap in a new version of the file whenever it changes. The printed code stays the same.
A PDF QR code opens a document, such as a menu, brochure, manual or price list, on any phone. We host the file and the code points to it through a short link, so every PDF code is editable: upload a new version any time and the printed code opens it. Try it free for 14 days.
The latest version, every scan
Print the code on the brochure once. Upload a new PDF later and the same code opens it.
Templates for this code
-
Menu card
A banner for menus and price lists that live in a PDF.
-
Manual insert
A boxed code for product inserts that open the manual.
-
Brochure blue
Navy dotted modules on sky blue for brochures and catalogues.
How to turn a PDF into a QR code
Create the editable code
Choose PDF above and continue to sign up. The trial starts when you create your first editable code, and it needs no card.
Upload the file
PDFs up to 10 MB during the trial and 25 MB on passes and plans. A one-page menu is usually far below either limit.
Design and download
Pick colours, a frame and a logo, then download the code in SVG, PNG, JPG, WebP, PDF and EPS for print.
Replace the file when it changes
New menu, new price list, corrected brochure: upload the new PDF to the same code. Nothing needs reprinting.
Why a PDF code is always editable
-
Fixed QR code (static)
A fixed code holds text, and a PDF is far too large for a printable square. If your PDF already lives on your own website at a permanent address, a free fixed website code to it works too.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic) Our pick for this type
The editable code holds a short link to the file we host. Replace the file, see how often it is opened, and keep the same printed code. It runs on a plan from $9 a month, a pass from $12 once, or Keep-alive at $3 a month once the document is final.
Documents people put behind a code
Menus and price lists
Print the code once on the table card and upload the new PDF when prices or dishes change.
Product manuals and data sheets
A code on the box or the device opens the manual on the phone, in its latest revision.
Brochures and catalogues
Trade fair visitors take the PDF with them instead of a paper copy they leave in the hotel.
Event programmes and handouts
Schedule changes on the morning of the event go into the PDF, not onto a reprint.
Print and file tips
Make the PDF phone-friendly
A single column and a readable font size matter more than print quality. People read it on a small screen, often with one hand.
Keep the file small
Compress large images before you upload. A smaller PDF opens faster on mobile data and stays well under the upload limit.
The code itself stays small
Because the code encodes a short link, not the document, it stays coarse and prints well from about 2 cm. The print check confirms the minimum for your design.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
Can I make a PDF QR code for free?
Not as a fixed code, because the document has to be hosted somewhere. The 14-day trial is free and needs no card. If your PDF is already on your own website, a free fixed website code can link to it.
Can I replace the PDF after printing the code?
Yes. Upload the new file to the same code in the app, and scans open the new version from then on. The printed code does not change.
How large can the PDF be?
Up to 10 MB during the trial and 25 MB per file on passes and plans.
Where is the file stored?
On our file host, nodealpha.online. The code itself points to a short link on our redirect domain or on your own domain, never to oqrely.com.
What happens to the PDF code if I cancel?
The code keeps working until the end of the paid period. After that, scans show a neutral inactive page and no ads. You can reactivate within 12 months of a paid plan ending, and Keep-alive keeps finished documents online for $3 a month.
Share the document, keep the code
