QR code for a website
Paste a web address, check the preview, download a print-ready file. The code opens your page in the phone's browser on the first scan.
A website QR code stores a web address. Point a phone camera at it and the page opens in the browser, no app needed. Paste the full link, including https://, into the generator below and download the file. A fixed code is free; an editable code holds a short link you can redirect later, with scan counts.
From print to your page in one scan
The poster carries the code. A scan opens your page in the phone's browser.

How to make a QR code for your website
Copy the exact page address
Copy the address bar of the page people need, such as the booking form or the product.
Paste it and choose fixed or editable
Fixed is free for a permanent address. Editable lets you move the page later and count scans.
Scan the preview with your phone
Scan it from the screen before you download and check it lands on the right page, on mobile data.
Download the format your printer wants
SVG or EPS for print shops, PDF for office printers, PNG up to 4096 pixels for documents and slides.
Fixed or editable for a website link?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
The web address itself sits inside the squares. The scan goes straight to your site, and the code is free. It keeps that address for good, so if the page moves, a reprint brings it back.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
The squares hold a short link that forwards to your page. Change where it goes any time, even years after printing, and see how often it is scanned. From $9 a month or $12 once for a pass, after a 14-day trial.
Where a website QR code earns its place
Shop windows and doors
Opening hours change, the shop page stays. Link to the page that answers what passers-by want at 9 pm: stock, booking or a phone number.
Product packaging and manuals
Send buyers to setup videos or spare parts. Packaging outlives web pages, which is why editable codes are popular here.
Posters and flyers
A poster has seconds of attention. A code that opens the ticket page directly beats a web address nobody types.
Invoices and letters
Link to the payment portal or the customer area so readers do not need to search for it.
Printing a website QR code that scans first time
Shorter links make calmer codes
Every character adds squares. An editable code always encodes a short link, so it stays coarse and easy to read.
Size it for the reading distance
Make the code about a tenth of the reading distance: 3 cm on a table card, 30 cm on a poster read from 3 metres.
Keep the quiet zone
Leave a clear margin of four squares around the code. A tight crop is a common reason a printed code fails.
Dark on light
Scanners expect dark squares on a light background. The generator warns you when colours get too close.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
Does a website QR code stop working?
A fixed code never stops on its own: it keeps opening the address it holds for as long as that address exists. An editable code keeps forwarding while your plan, pass or trial is active.
Can I change the website after the code is printed?
Only with an editable code. Its squares hold a short link that you point somewhere else in the app, and the change goes live on the next scan. A fixed code holds the address itself, so changing it means a new code and a reprint.
Should I put https:// in front of the link?
Yes. Paste the full address as it appears in your browser. With https:// the phone knows it is a web page and opens it straight away instead of showing the text or running a search.
Can I track how many people scan my website code?
Scan counts need an editable code, because a scan of a fixed code goes straight to your site without passing us. If you only need visits, the analytics on your own site can count them with a campaign tag in the link.
Do people need an app to scan it?
Most phones sold in recent years read QR codes from the built-in camera. Point the camera at the code and tap the link that appears.
Is the website QR code really free?
Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like without signing up, in SVG, PNG, JPG, WebP, PDF and EPS, and downloads carry no watermark. Editable codes cost money because we run the short link behind them.
Put your website on paper
Paste the link, scan the preview, and download a file your printer will accept.
