Your domain's page in Domains shows the exact record. Copy the name and the value from there; the steps below show where they go.
- Cloudflare: open the domain, then DNS and Records, and choose Add record. Pick type CNAME, enter the name and the target, and save. Set the proxy status to DNS only (grey cloud). For a root domain, use CNAME with the name @: Cloudflare flattens it.
- GoDaddy: open My Products, choose DNS next to the domain, then Add New Record. Pick CNAME, enter the name and the value, and save. GoDaddy cannot flatten a root domain, so use a subdomain.
- Namecheap: open Domain List, choose Manage, then Advanced DNS and Add New Record. Pick CNAME Record for a subdomain, or ALIAS Record with the host @ for a root domain.
- Squarespace: open Domains, choose the domain, then DNS and Custom records. Add a CNAME record with the host and the data. Use a subdomain.
- IONOS: open Domains and SSL, choose the domain, then DNS and Add record. Pick CNAME, enter the host name and the value. Use a subdomain.
- OVHcloud: in the Control Panel, open Web Cloud, Domain names, the domain, then DNS zone and Add an entry. Pick CNAME and enter the subdomain and the target, including its final dot.
- Hostinger: open Domains, choose the domain, then DNS and Manage DNS records. Pick type CNAME, enter the name and the target, and save.
- Any other host: add a CNAME record with the name and the value shown. For a root domain, use an ALIAS or ANAME record (some hosts call it CNAME flattening) with the name @.
If it does not connect
DNS changes can take a while to spread. The domain page explains what it sees, for example a missing record or one that points elsewhere. Check for a typo in the value, a second record with the same name, or, at Cloudflare, an orange proxy cloud.
