oqrely checks every destination of an editable code before scanners are sent there, when the code is created and whenever the destination changes. This keeps people who scan a code from landing on phishing or malware.

While a check runs

Scanners see a short "Checking this link" page until the check finishes. The editor tells you when a check is pending.

When a destination is refused

If the check finds a problem, the app does not save that destination and says so. Choose another address.

When a code is blocked

If a destination turns out to be harmful later, for example after a report, the code is blocked. The editor shows Blocked for safety, scanners see "This QR code was blocked for safety", and we e-mail the account owner. If the destination is safe, press Check again in the editor: a fresh check runs at once, again after an hour and after a day, and a clean result lifts the block by itself.

Check a link yourself

The QR code safety check shows where any link leads and what the security sources say about it. To report a code that sends people somewhere harmful, use Report a problem.
