QR codes for hair and beauty salons
Clients sit still for an hour with their phone in hand. A code at the mirror turns that hour into follows and reviews.
Hair and beauty salons use QR codes at the mirror to win Instagram followers, at the till to ask for Google reviews, and on appointment cards that save the salon's number to the client's phone. All three work as free fixed codes. Choose editable only for booking links or offers you expect to change.
Follows from the chair
A card at the mirror. Clients scan while the colour sets and follow your latest work.
Where codes work in a salon
At the mirror
While the colour sets, clients scroll. A card with your latest work turns that minute into a follow.
At the till
A review card next to the card reader asks every happy client at the moment they say thank you.
On the appointment card
A contact code saves the salon to the phone, so rebooking is a call or a message away.
Fixed or editable for salons
-
Fixed QR code (static)
Instagram, review and contact codes can all be fixed and free: the handle, the review link and the phone number rarely change.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
Make a code editable when it points at an offer or a booking page you may swap, and to count scans per card. Starter is $9 a month.
Worked example: a four-chair hair salon
- Mirrors
- A small card at each mirror says "See this week's cuts and colours" and opens the salon's profile.
- Till
- The review card sits beside the card reader with "Loved it? Tell others", and stylists mention it once.
- Cards
- Appointment cards carry a contact code, so clients find the salon in their contacts when it is time to rebook.
Getting started
Start at the mirror
Make an Instagram code with a caption that promises something, and put one at every chair.
Add the review card
Paste your Google review link into a review code and stand it beside the card reader.
Mention it once
One friendly line from the stylist doubles the scans of a card nobody talks about.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
Which QR code should a salon make first?
An Instagram code at the mirror. Clients have time and their phone in hand, and your work is the best advert you have.
Is it fine to ask for reviews with a QR code?
Yes, ask every client the same way. Google's rules forbid paying for reviews or asking only happy clients, so the card on the till suits.
How many codes can one salon use?
Three is plenty: Instagram at the mirror, reviews at the till and contact on the appointment card. Each has one clear job.
Do the codes cost anything?
No. Instagram, review and contact codes are free fixed codes with no account and no watermark, working for as long as the links do.
Can I link the code to my booking page?
Yes. Paste your booking page's address, and choose editable if you may switch booking tools later.
