QR codes for restaurants and cafés
Three codes earn their place on a table: one for reviews, one for Wi-Fi, one for a menu that keeps up with the kitchen.
Restaurants and cafés get the most from three QR codes: a review code that opens your Google review form, a Wi-Fi code that joins guests to the network, and a menu code you update without reprinting. Review and Wi-Fi codes work as free fixed codes. The menu earns an editable one, because it changes most.
From the table to a review in one scan
A card by the bill. Guests scan, your Google review form opens and the stars are one tap away.
What each code does at the table
Reviews while the meal is fresh
A card that asks "How did we do?" and opens the review form catches guests at the moment they feel good about the visit.
Wi-Fi without asking staff
Guests join the network from their seat, and staff stop reading out passwords during the busiest hour of the day.
A menu that keeps up
Sold-out dishes, new prices and seasonal specials change behind the same printed code, so the cards stay on the tables for months.
Which codes to pay for
-
Fixed QR code (static)
Keep the review and Wi-Fi codes fixed and free: your review link and guest network rarely change, and fixed codes work without any account behind them.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
Make the menu code editable, so one new file replaces the old menu on every table at once. Starter is $9 a month after the 14-day trial, and one plan covers every menu you run.
Worked example: a neighbourhood café
- One tent card per table
- Front: the menu code with "Menu and prices". Back: the Wi-Fi code and the review code, each with a one-line label.
- One routine a week
- The owner uploads the new menu PDF on Monday morning. The review and Wi-Fi codes on the back are never touched.
- One number to watch
- New Google reviews per week, before and after the cards went out, tell the owner whether the back of the card earns its space.
Getting started in an afternoon
Collect the three ingredients
Your review link from the Business Profile, your guest network name and password, and your menu as a PDF.
Make the free codes first
Create the review and Wi-Fi codes in the generator and download them without signing up.
Add the menu code and print
Upload the menu to an editable code, lay out the table cards with all three codes, and scan each one from a seat before they go out.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
How many codes should one table have?
Two or three at most, each with a short label. More codes on one card make guests guess which one to scan, and most give up.
Do menu codes replace printed menus?
They do not have to. Many places keep a few printed menus for guests who prefer paper and use the code for the prices and specials that change.
What does it cost to run all three codes?
The review and Wi-Fi codes are free fixed codes. The menu code needs a plan or pass: Starter is $9 a month with 50 editable codes, enough for several menus and locations.
What if I run more than one location?
Give each location its own review code, since each has its own Business Profile, and its own menu code if the menus differ. The Wi-Fi code follows each location's network.
Do the codes work without mobile data?
The Wi-Fi code does, because the phone joins the network straight from the code. The review and menu codes open web pages, so they need data or your Wi-Fi, which is a good reason to print the Wi-Fi code on the same card.
