App store QR code
Enter your app's ID and pick the store. One scan takes people from your poster to the install button.
An app store QR code opens your app's page in the Apple App Store or on Google Play, one tap from Install. Pick the store, enter the app ID from your store link and download the code. Each fixed code opens one store, so print two side by side when your audience uses both iPhone and Android.
From poster to Install in one scan
Put the code on a poster, a flyer or the packaging. A scan opens your store page with the install button ready.
Templates for this code
-
Store badge
A banner that says where the scan goes, for packaging inserts and posters.
-
Launch night
Navy rounded code for launch flyers and event screens.
-
Counter card
A boxed code for shop counters and receipts, read from close up.
How to make an app download QR code
Find the app ID
In the App Store link, it is the number after id, such as id1234567890. On Google Play, it is the package name after id=, such as com.example.app.
Choose the store
Pick Apple App Store or Google Play. Each code opens one store page.
Scan it on the matching phone
Test the App Store code on an iPhone and the Google Play code on an Android phone. Both should land on your install page.
Download both codes if needed
Make one code per store and place them side by side with a store label, so nobody scans the wrong one.
Fixed or editable for app downloads?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
Store addresses are stable, so a fixed code per store is free and opens the install page directly. It is a good fit for packaging and manuals that live for years.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
Choose editable if you want one printed code that you can redirect later, for example from a beta page to the store listing, and see how many scans each campaign brings. From $9 a month after the 14-day trial, or a pass from $12 once.
Where app codes drive installs
Product packaging and manuals
Companion apps for devices: the code on the box takes buyers straight to setup.
Shops and restaurants
Loyalty and ordering apps promoted at the till, where customers have their phone in hand anyway.
Posters and transit ads
A code turns a passing glance into an install, without searching the store and picking the wrong look-alike app.
Events
Event apps with schedules and maps, installed at the entrance before the doors open.
Print tips for app codes
Label each store
Write App Store or Google Play under each code. The store badges from Apple and Google come with their own usage rules, so check them before adding badges.
Give each code its own quiet zone
Two codes side by side need a clear gap between them, at least the width of four squares, or a scanner may read the wrong one.
Store links stay compact
App links are short, so the codes print well from about 2 cm on packaging.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
Can one QR code open the App Store on iPhone and Google Play on Android?
A fixed code opens one store. To serve both stores from one printed code, link it to a download page on your own website that offers both buttons, using a website code. Otherwise, two labelled codes side by side are the reliable choice.
Where do I find my app ID?
Open your app in the store on a computer. The App Store link contains id followed by digits; the Google Play link ends with id= followed by the package name.
What if the app is removed or renamed?
The store usually keeps the same ID when an app is renamed, so the code keeps working. If the app is removed, a fixed code leads to a missing page; an editable code can be pointed at your website instead.
Can I link to an app in another store?
The generator supports the Apple App Store and Google Play. For other stores, paste the store link into the website QR code page.
Do I need permission from Apple or Google to print the code?
No. A code that links to your own store page is just a link. If you add Apple's or Google's store badges next to it, follow their badge guidelines.
Take people from print to install
