MeCard QR code for small contact codes
A shorter contact format that fits name, phone and e-mail into a smaller, faster code.
A MeCard QR code holds a contact in a shorter format than vCard: name, phone, e-mail, address and website. Fewer characters mean fewer squares, so the code prints smaller on badges and labels. Make MeCard codes in the app; the generator above makes the vCard version.
A badge that saves you
A visitor scans the badge and the phone offers to add the contact.

How to make a MeCard code
Pick the fields
Name and phone at least; add e-mail and website if they fit.
Create it in the app
Choose Contact (MeCard) and fill in the fields.
Scan to check
Your phone should offer Add contact with every field in place.
Print it small
MeCard codes stay legible at sizes where a vCard grows dense.
Fixed or editable for a MeCard?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
A MeCard is fixed: the contact sits inside the code and works offline, free in every format.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
To change details after printing, use an editable digital business card instead, with a page you can edit and scans per day. Try it 14 days free, then plans from $9 a month.

Print tips for MeCard codes
Fewer fields, smaller code
Every field you leave out shrinks the code.
Size
1.5 cm is enough for a short MeCard on a badge.
Test the save
Scan with an iPhone and an Android phone before printing.
MeCard or vCard
- MeCard
- Short text, fewer squares, the essentials of a contact.
- vCard
- Longer text with more fields, such as job title and several numbers.
- Both work offline
- The contact is inside the code, so no internet is needed.
- Phones that read it
- Current iPhone and Android cameras offer to save a MeCard as a new contact.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
What is a MeCard?
A short text format for a contact, first used on Japanese phones and read by today's iPhone and Android cameras.
Is MeCard better than vCard?
MeCard is shorter, so the code is smaller. vCard carries more fields. For a badge, MeCard; for a full card, vCard.
Which fields does a MeCard hold?
Name, phone numbers, e-mail, address, website, birthday and a note.
Does a MeCard code need the internet?
No. The contact is inside the code, so it saves offline.
Can I edit a MeCard after printing?
No, the details are printed into the code. For details you can change, use a digital business card.
Is it free?
Yes. MeCard codes are fixed codes, free to download in SVG, PNG, JPG, WebP, PDF and EPS.
Can I print a MeCard and a vCard side by side?
You could, but one code is clearer. Pick MeCard for small codes and vCard when you need every field.
