Phone number QR code
Enter the number once. Anyone who scans the code gets the call button with your number ready, every digit right.
A phone number QR code opens the dialler with your number already entered, so the caller only taps Call, every digit right. Enter the number with its country code, such as +1 or +44, in the generator below and download the code. A fixed phone code is free and works as long as the number is yours.
One scan, then Call
Put the code on your card, van or shop window. People scan and the dialler opens with your number.
Templates for this code
-
Call us
A banner that says the scan dials you, for vans and shop windows.
-
Van door
A large boxed code for vehicle doors, read from a few steps away.
-
Helpline
Plain black code for leaflets, notices and helpline cards.
How to make a phone number QR code
Use international format
Write the number with its country code, such as +44 20 or +1 555. It then dials correctly from any phone, including visitors from abroad.
Paste it into the generator
Spaces and brackets are fine; the code keeps only what the dialler needs.
Scan the preview
Check that the dialler shows the right number. You do not need to place the call.
Download and label it
Add "Scan to call" next to the code and print the number in text as well.
Fixed or editable for a phone number?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
A fixed code holds the number itself and opens the dialler straight away, offline. It is free and the right choice when the number is yours for the long run.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
Pick editable if the number may change, for example a temporary hotline, or if you want to count scans per sign or vehicle. You redirect the code in the app and the printed signs keep working. From $9 a month after the 14-day trial.
Where a call code helps
Vans and vehicles
Parked vans are read from the pavement. A large code on the back door turns a passer-by into a call.
For sale and to let signs
Property signs, car windows and noticeboards, where people want to call now and not later.
Emergency and service stickers
Boilers, lifts and machines: a sticker with the service number saves searching when something breaks.
Print ads and posters
Readers call from the page instead of typing a number they glanced at once.
Print tips for call codes
Vehicles need big codes
A code on a van read from 3 metres needs to be about 30 cm wide. Keep it on a flat panel, away from handles and seams.
Weather-proof materials
Outdoor signs and stickers fade. Use vinyl with UV protection so the dark squares stay dark.
Phone codes stay small
A number is only a few characters, so the code is coarse and reads well even printed small on a sticker.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
Does scanning the code call the number straight away?
No. The phone opens the dialler with the number filled in and waits for the person to tap call.
What format should the number be in?
International format with the country code, for example +49 30 1234567. It works from any phone in any country.
Can I use a toll-free or short number?
Yes. Toll-free and short numbers work, but they may only be reachable from within your country, so say so next to the code if that matters.
Is a phone code better than a contact code?
For a quick call, yes. If people should keep your details for later, a vCard code saves your name and number to their contacts instead.
Does it work without mobile data?
Yes. Reading the code needs no connection; only the call itself needs mobile signal.
Make calling you the easy option
Enter your number with its country code and download a code for your van, sign or flyer.
