Pet ID QR code for dog and cat tags
A tag that tells a finder who your pet is and lets them reach you in one scan.
A pet ID QR code on the collar opens your pet's page: name, photo, health needs and a form the finder fills in to reach you. Your number stays private because the message comes to you. Build the page in the app from the Pet ID template and print the code on a tag, then update it when you move.
Found a dog? Scan the tag
A neighbour scans the collar tag and the pet's page opens with a way to reach the owner.
Templates for this code
-
Collar tag
Brick red squares for small tags.
-
Found me
A banner with If found, scan me.
-
Harness patch
Navy rounded modules for fabric patches.
How to make a pet ID tag
Build the profile
Start from the Pet ID template: name, a few words, health needs and the Found me form.
Choose editable
You can change details after the tag is engraved, for example after a move.
Print or engrave it small but sharp
Use plain square modules and the SVG file for engraving.
Test it
Scan the tag and send yourself a test message.
Fixed or editable for a pet tag?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
A fixed code to a page on your own site works, but the address must never change while the tag is on the collar.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
We recommend editable: the page lives with us, you change it any time, and finder messages reach you without showing your number. Try it 14 days free, then plans from $9 a month.

Print tips for tags

On a 3 cm tag, the code can fill most of the face.

Caption
If found, scan me on the back tells people what to do.
What goes into the page
- What the page holds
- Your pet's name, a few lines about health and temper, and the Found me form.
- Privacy
- Finders send a message through the form, so your phone number stays off the page.
- Updates
- Change the text in the app after a move or a new medicine.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
How does a pet ID QR code work?
The finder scans the tag with any phone camera, sees your pet's page and sends you a message through the form.
Does the finder see my phone number?
Not unless you put it on the page. The Found me form sends their details to you instead.
Can I update the page after engraving?
With an editable code, yes. Change the text or the photo in the app any time.
Does it need GPS?
No. The tag has no battery or tracker. It helps the person who found your pet reach you.
What if my pet has a medical condition?
Write it in the About me block, for example the medicine and whom to call, so a finder knows at once.
Which tag material works best?
Light metal or plastic with dark engraving, kept clean, scans best.
