The generator asks one question for this: Will this be printed, and might the link ever change?
Fixed code
- The content is in the image. Nothing passes through oqrely when someone scans.
- Free: it needs no account, carries no watermark and does not depend on a plan.
- It cannot be changed, and scans are not counted.
- Good for Wi-Fi, a phone number, a business card or a link that will never move.
Editable code
- The image holds a short link that sends scanners to your destination.
- You can change the destination at any time, and you see scan statistics.
- It needs a trial, a plan, a pass or Keep-alive. When the plan or pass ends, editable codes stop redirecting, after warnings 7, 3 and 1 days ahead.
- Good for menus, flyers, packaging and anything printed in large numbers.
If you are unsure
Print with an editable code when a reprint would be expensive, and put it on your own domain if you want to stay free to move later. A fixed code is the right choice when the content will not change.
