A gift registry QR code that reads kindly
Guests who ask what you would like find the list in one scan, and the invitation stays elegant.
A gift registry QR code opens your wedding or baby shower gift list on the guest's phone. Paste the registry link from your list provider, print the code small on the invitation insert or the details card, and add a warm line, so guests who want to give find the list without asking.
A gift in a few taps
A guest scans the details card, opens the list and picks the serving bowl you hoped for.
How to add your gift list to the invitation
Copy your registry link
Every gift list service gives you a share link. Open it in a private browser window to check guests can see it.
Make the code
Paste the link above and choose colours that suit the stationery, with the code darker than its background.
Place it on the insert
The details card or the back of the invitation, at 2 to 2.5 cm, is where guests look for practical things.
Worked example: a wedding with two lists
- The lists
- A store registry for home goods and a honeymoon fund, both linked from one small page the couple made.
- The insert
- The details card says "If you would like to give a gift, our list is here" beside a 2 cm code.
- The result
- Guests scan, choose and buy, and the couple answers fewer questions about what to bring.
Fixed or editable for a gift list?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
A fixed code holds the registry link itself. It is free and right when your list stays with one service.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
Choose editable if you might switch list services, add a second list later or want to see how many guests scanned. From $9 a month after the 14-day trial.
Wording that feels gracious
Invite, never require
"If you would like to give a gift" lets guests choose, which is how a list should feel.
Keep the code small
A modest 2 cm code on the insert looks tasteful and still scans at reading distance.
Use the same code online
Put the code image on your wedding website too, so guests on a computer can scan with their phone.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
Where should the registry code go on an invitation?
On the details card or the back of the invitation, near the practical information. The front stays for the names and the date.
Can one code link to two gift lists?
Make a short page with both links, or use a list service that combines several shops, and point the code at that.
Is it polite to put a gift list on an invitation?
Many couples do, with gentle wording. A small code on the insert offers the list to those who want it without making it the focus.
How big should the code be?
About 2 to 2.5 cm wide scans well at reading distance. Keep a clear margin around it on the card.
Does this work for baby showers and birthdays?
Yes. Any gift list with a share link works the same way on any invitation.
Can guests buy from the list without an account?
That depends on the list service. Most let guests browse and buy as visitors, with the gift marked as bought so nobody sends the same thing twice.
