A song request QR code on every table
Guests send their song by text from their seat, and the DJ reads the list without anyone shouting over the speakers.
A song request QR code opens a text message to the DJ's phone with "Song request:" already typed. Guests add the track and artist and send. Put the code on table cards or by the bar, and the requests arrive as a list the DJ can scroll between tracks, without a queue at the booth.
Requests without shouting
A guest scans the table card, types a song and sends it to the booth in seconds.
How to take requests by scan
Use a booth phone number
A work or spare phone at the booth keeps requests away from a private number.
Make the code
Enter the number and the start of the message above, such as "Song request: ".
Place the cards
Table cards, the bar and the dance floor edge. People think of songs while they sit and drink.
Worked example: a wedding DJ
- The cards
- Each table has a small card reading "Your song next? Scan to request" in the wedding font.
- The flow
- Requests come in as texts all evening. The DJ checks them between tracks and plays the ones that fit.
- The bonus
- After the party the DJ has a list of songs this crowd asked for, useful for the next booking.
Fixed or editable for song requests?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
A fixed text code holds the number and first words. It is free and right for a DJ with one booth phone.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
Choose editable to send requests to a form or a request app instead, switch numbers between gigs or count requests per venue. From $9 a month after the 14-day trial.
Keep requests coming
Say when to request
"Requests open after dinner" keeps the playlist on track during the speeches.
Reply now and then
A quick "Coming up!" text makes the guest's night and brings more requests.
Print one for the bar
The bar is where guests wait and think of songs, so a card there gets used.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
How does a song request QR code work?
It holds a phone number and the start of a message. Scanning opens the messages app with both filled in, and the guest adds the song and sends.
Will guests see the DJ's number?
Yes, a text always shows the number it goes to. Use a work or booth phone number rather than a private one.
Can requests go to a form instead of texts?
Yes. Make a link code to a request form or a playlist app. An editable code lets you switch between the two later.
Does this work for bars with live music?
Yes. A card on each table lets guests request between sets, and the band reads the list at the break.
Can guests request without a phone signal?
A text needs a mobile signal. In venues with weak reception, a link code to a form over the venue Wi-Fi works better.
How do I stop the same song being requested ten times?
Reply once with a short "Already on the list!" or post the next songs on a screen by the booth. Guests see their wish is heard and send something new.
Can the request card match the wedding design?
Yes. Pick colours from the stationery for the code and the frame, keep the code darker than its background, and print it on the same card stock as the menus.
