Get more YouTube subscribers with one scan
People who meet you offline land on your channel with the subscribe prompt open, one tap from following.
To get more YouTube subscribers from print, use a code that opens your channel with the subscribe prompt showing. Add ?sub_confirmation=1 to the end of your channel link, paste it above and print it where people meet you offline: packaging, posters, class flyers or the back of a business card.
One tap to subscribe
A student scans the studio flyer and the channel opens with the subscribe box showing.
How to turn print into subscribers
Copy your channel link
Use the handle address, such as youtube.com/@yourname, from your channel page.
Add the subscribe prompt
Put ?sub_confirmation=1 at the end. Viewers who open it see a "Subscribe" box straight away.
Make the code
Paste the full link above. A frame line such as "Subscribe on YouTube" sets the expectation.
Print it with a reason
Tell people what they get: "New workouts every Monday" beats a bare logo.
Worked example: a yoga teacher with a growing channel
- The print
- Class flyers and the studio door carry a code reading "Free 10-minute flows every Monday".
- The link
- The code opens the channel with the subscribe box, so students follow before they leave the mat.
- The measure
- YouTube Studio shows new subscribers by day; class days show the jump.
Fixed or editable for a YouTube code?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
A fixed code holds the channel link with the subscribe prompt. It is free, works for years and suits a channel that keeps its handle.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
Choose editable to point the same prints at a new video, a playlist or a members page later, and to count scans by flyer. From $9 a month after the 14-day trial.
Where print subscribers come from
Your product
Packaging and receipts reach people who already chose you; a how-to video is a reason to follow.
Your events
Classes, talks and markets: the people in the room are your warmest audience.
Your video end screen
Show the code on screen too, so TV viewers can subscribe from their phone.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
What does sub_confirmation=1 do?
Added to a channel link, it opens the channel with a subscribe confirmation box. The viewer taps once to follow, instead of searching for the button.
Does the subscribe link work in the YouTube app?
On most phones the link opens the YouTube app on your channel. Where the prompt does not show, the channel page with its Subscribe button opens instead.
Should the code open the channel or a video?
For subscribers, the channel with the prompt. For one product or lesson, a video works better, and an editable code lets you change between them.
Can I put a YouTube code on a TV video?
Yes. Show it on screen for a few seconds at least 15 percent of the frame height, so phones can read it from the sofa.
How do I know the print brought subscribers?
YouTube Studio shows subscribers by day and source. An editable code adds scan counts per flyer or poster.
Can I use my channel ID instead of the handle?
Yes. Both channel addresses accept ?sub_confirmation=1 at the end. The handle is shorter, which keeps the code simpler.
