Share a Spotify playlist with a QR code
Guests who ask "what is this song?" save the whole playlist in one scan, and keep your place in their ears.
To share a Spotify playlist with a QR code, copy the playlist link from the Share menu in Spotify, paste it above with the Spotify platform selected and print the code. A scan opens the playlist in the Spotify app, where guests save it or play it at once.
What is this song?
A guest scans the card by the till and saves the café playlist in Spotify with one tap.
How to share your playlist
Copy the link
In Spotify, open the playlist, tap the three dots, then Share and Copy link.
Make the code
Choose Spotify above and paste the link. Pick colours that match your café or invitation.
Print a line with it
"What is playing? Our playlist here" tells people why to scan.
Worked example: a café that gets asked about its music
- The card
- A small card by the till reads "Like the music? Save our playlist" beside the code.
- The playlist
- The owner updates the list every month. The code keeps opening the same playlist with the new songs.
- The follow
- Guests save the playlist, and the café name sits in their library long after the visit.
Fixed or editable for a playlist?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
A fixed code holds the playlist link. Spotify keeps that link while you add and remove songs, so a fixed code is a sound free choice.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
Choose editable to swap between playlists for seasons or events, or to send the code to an Apple Music version later. From $9 a month after the 14-day trial.
Ideas that people enjoy
Wedding mix
Put the code on the menu or the thank-you card, so guests replay the night.
Shop soundtrack
A card by the till answers "what song is this" without anyone needing to ask.
Party collab
A collaborative playlist code lets guests add songs before the party.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
Is a Spotify Code the same as a QR code?
No. A Spotify Code only scans inside the Spotify app. A QR code scans with any phone camera and opens the playlist in Spotify, or in the browser if the app is missing.
Does the playlist link change when I add songs?
No. The link stays the same while the songs change, so a printed code keeps opening your latest version.
Can guests add songs through the code?
Yes, if you make the playlist collaborative in Spotify and share that link. Guests with Spotify can then add tracks.
Do guests need Spotify to open the playlist?
Spotify opens in the browser for people without the app, where they can listen with a free account.
Can I share an album or a podcast the same way?
Yes. Copy any Spotify share link, from an album to a single episode, and paste it the same way.
How big should the playlist code be on a card?
About 2.5 cm is plenty at table distance. Keep the code dark on a light card, even if the card itself is colourful.
Can I put the playlist code on a wedding invitation?
Yes. Many couples share the party playlist before the wedding or on the thank-you card after it. A small code on the insert lets guests listen along and add requests.
Your sound, in their library
