Get invoices paid faster with a QR code
Customers scan the invoice in their banking app. Name, IBAN, amount and reference fill in by themselves.
To get invoices paid faster, print a payment QR code, also called an EPC or GiroCode, on each invoice. The customer scans it in their banking app and the transfer fills itself in with your name, IBAN, the amount and the invoice number. Enter the details above, download the code and place it beside the total.
Paid in three taps
A code beside the total. The banking app reads it and the transfer is ready to approve.
How to add a payment code to an invoice
Enter the payment details
Your account name, IBAN, the amount and the invoice number as the reference. The BIC is optional inside the euro area.
Make one code per invoice
Each invoice has its own amount and reference, so each gets its own code. It takes seconds and costs nothing.
Place it beside the total
Where the eye lands when the customer reads what to pay, with "Scan to pay in your banking app" next to it.
Test with your own bank
Scan the code in your banking app before sending and check the name, amount and reference it fills in.
Worked example: a small design studio
- The invoice
- Invoice 2027-014 for 480 euros, with a payment code printed in the corner beside the total.
- The customer
- Opens the banking app, taps Scan, checks the filled-in transfer and approves it. No IBAN typed, no reference forgotten.
- The bookkeeping
- The payment arrives with the exact invoice number as its reference, so matching it takes one glance.
Fixed or editable for invoices?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
Payment codes are fixed: the banking app reads the transfer details straight from the code, with no website in between. They are free and need no account.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic)
An editable code opens a web page, and banking apps do not read web pages as transfers. For invoices, always make a fixed code per invoice.
Codes that get paid
Use the invoice number
Put the invoice number in the reference field. It is what you match payments by, so it should arrive exactly.
Print it large enough
At least 2.5 cm on paper, and on a PDF keep it as a vector so it stays sharp on any screen.
Keep the old way too
Print the IBAN in text as well, for customers whose banking app has no scan button.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
Which banking apps can scan an EPC payment code?
Most banking apps in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Finland have a scan button for these codes, often called GiroCode or Scan and Pay.
Does it work outside the euro area?
The EPC code is a SEPA standard for euro transfers. Customers outside SEPA, or paying in another currency, need the IBAN or a payment link instead.
Can the customer change the amount?
The code fills in the amount, and the customer can still change it in the banking app before approving. They always confirm the transfer themselves.
Is it safe to put my IBAN in a QR code?
The code holds the same details your invoice already shows in text. It cannot take money: the customer reviews and approves every transfer.
Can I make payment codes for many invoices at once?
Yes. Upload a file with one row per invoice to the bulk QR code generator and download a code for each.
Make paying you the easy part
Enter your details and the amount, test the code in your banking app and add it to the next invoice.
