Your vacation rental guidebook behind one QR code
Guests find the check-in steps, Wi-Fi and the best bakery nearby on their phone, and you update it between stays.
A vacation rental guidebook QR code opens your house guide on the guest's phone: arrival steps, Wi-Fi, heating, rubbish days, checkout and local tips. Write the guide once as a PDF, put the code on a card by the door and in the booking message, and replace the file whenever something changes.
Answers before they ask
A guest scans the card by the door and finds the heating switch, the bins and checkout time.
How to build a guide guests actually read
Write the guide
One page per topic: arrival, Wi-Fi, appliances, house rules, rubbish, checkout and favourite places nearby.
Upload it
Save the guide as a PDF, choose the PDF type above and upload it. The code opens it in any phone browser.
Place the code twice
Send the code image in the booking message and frame a printed card by the door or on the fridge.
Refresh between stays
New coffee machine or a road closure? Upload the new file and the next guest reads the current guide.
Worked example: a seaside flat with weekly guests
- The guide
- Eight short pages with photos of the key box, the heating dial and the bins, plus a map of three nearby cafés.
- The card
- A framed card by the door reads "House guide: scan me", with the Wi-Fi code beside it on the same card.
- The effect
- Questions by message drop, because the answers sit one scan away when guests need them.
Fixed or editable for a house guide?
-
Fixed QR code (static)
A fixed code can only hold a link to a guide you host yourself. It is free and works while that link stays the same.
-
Editable QR code (dynamic) Our pick for this job
An editable code hosts the guide file, lets you replace it between stays and shows how often guests open it. We recommend it for rentals. From $9 a month after the 14-day trial.
What makes a guide useful
Photos over words
A photo of the fuse box or the shower switch answers a question faster than a paragraph.
Checkout on page one
Guests look for checkout time and key return more than anything else, so put them first.
Keep codes out of the guide
Door codes change per stay, so send them in the booking message rather than printing them in a shared guide.
Questions and answers
Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
What should a vacation rental guidebook include?
Arrival and key steps, Wi-Fi, how appliances work, house rules, rubbish days, checkout steps and a short list of local places you like.
Can I use one code for several properties?
Give each property its own code, so each guide matches its own heating, keys and neighbourhood. One app account manages them all.
Should the Wi-Fi password be in the guide?
Put a Wi-Fi code on the same card instead. Guests join with one scan and never need to type the password at all.
How do guests get the guide before arrival?
Download the code image and attach it to your booking message, or paste the code's short link as text.
Can guests read the guide offline?
The guide opens in the browser, and guests can save the PDF to their phone once it has loaded, which helps in places with weak signal.
How often should I update the guide?
Whenever something in the house or nearby changes. A quick read before each busy season catches old tips.
One guide, always current
Upload your house guide and print a card for the door before the next guest arrives.
