How to add a QR code to an invitation

Pick what the scan should do
Add the date to the calendar, open the RSVP form, or show the venue on a map. One job per code keeps it simple for guests.

Think about the weeks after
If the RSVP form will move or you want the same code to open the photo album after the day, choose an editable code on a pass.

Place it where the details are
Next to the date or on the reply card, at about 3 cm, with a few words that say what it does.

Test with someone outside the family
Ask a friend to scan the proof with their phone. If they get stuck, the line under the code needs work.
Invitation print specs
- Size
- A6, 105 by 148 mm, the usual size for invitations and reply cards.
- Code width
- About 3 cm is enough for a card held in the hand. A calendar event holds more data, so give it the upper end.
- Finish
- Foil, letterpress and glitter look great around the code, never on it. Keep the squares flat and plain.

Before you print
- Is it free?
- Fixed codes are free: make as many as you like, download a PNG with no sign-up, and get every other format and print files with a free account. Editable codes come with a plan, a pass, Keep-alive or the 14-day trial.
- Can I change the link after printing?
- Yes, with an editable code. It holds a short link you control, so you can point the printed code somewhere new any time, and the next scan opens the new page. A fixed code keeps the link it was made with.
- Can I use my own domain?
- Yes. A custom domain is included on passes, from Starter, and during the trial. Starter covers one subdomain, for example go.yourbrand.com, and apex domains start on Pro.
- What happens if I stop paying?
- Editable codes work to the end of your paid period, and after a failed payment every code keeps working for 14 days. Turn codes back on within 12 months. Fixed codes keep working as long as their links do.
What should an invitation QR code open?
Usually the RSVP form or a calendar entry with the date, time and place. A map link helps when the venue is hard to find.
Can the same code show wedding photos later?
With an editable code, yes: point it at the RSVP form before the day and at the shared album afterwards. A pass from $12 covers 3 months and never renews.
Is a calendar QR code free?
Yes. A fixed calendar event code carries the date, time and place itself, downloads free and needs no account.
Will older guests manage the scan?
Most phone cameras read codes directly now. Print the RSVP address in small text under the code as well, for anyone who prefers to type it.
Can I write the line under the code myself?
Yes. In the design studio you can change the call to action, for example to the couple's names or your event title.
